Titans team small but mighty

Despite having a team of only 17 at this years LOSSA finals, your Titans managed to crack the top 10 schools in the region.

Here are the highlights:

Brooke Belo finally avoided faulting out in long jump ;) and is headed to OFSAA Centrals next week following her fifth place finish in the senior girls competition.

Josh Stanley is headed to Centrals too, competing in the 200m and 400m events

Sherall Semeniuk finished 4th in the junior girls Javelin and will be headed to Centrals next week

Annie Vieira will be competing in the 400m, 800m and 1500m at Centrals. She won medals in two events, winning Bronze in the 400m and Silver in the 800m.

Cameron Murphy will join Logan Riley, Kurdell Reason and Thomas Witkowicz as the group resurrects their awesome Silver Medal winning 4×4 performance next week at Centrals

Meghan Myers won a Silver Medal in the Senior girls Javelin, so its off to Centrals for her.

Logan Riley qualified for Centrals by winning two Silver Medals, in the 200m and 400m events

Sky Diopp did one better finishing first place in both her events, winning LOSSA Gold in both the 200m and 400m Junior girls races.

Kurdell Reason is also a double LOSSA Gold medalist, winning the Senior 100m and 200m events. Add in his 4×4 medal and he makes quite a racket when he walks.

and taking home 4 LOSSA medals, two Gold and two Silver is Thomas Witkowicz. Thomas finished first in the Junior boys 1500m on day one of competition, clearly saving his energy for a busy day two. On day two, he took second in the 800m, then ran to a first place finish in the grueling 3k and capped of the day by joining his teammates to win silver in the 4×4. Not a bad Wednesday.

All in all, a very successful LOSSA outing despite having such a small squad.

The team will be chasing OFSAA berths next week on Tuesday and Wednesday at Central Regionals.

Coaches wish them the best of luck.

You Titans started the 2016 season by taking in the 43rd Annual Nike Rowland Games. While it was a small band that traveled to Etobicoke for the first meet, an All Saints tradition it seems, the small numbers were offset by some great performances.
A couple of first place finishes and some promising showings by our newest Titans, has the coach thinking very optimistically about the rest of the season.

Thomas Witkowicz competed with the best 3000m runners in the province in the Nike Invitational event. Thomas had a great race, despite being a grade 10 among much stronger grade 12 runners. A top 10 finish at this race shows Thomas’ winter training served him well. Kurdell Reason also had top a 10 finish in the 400m.

A handful of newcomers, still trying to figure out what their favorite events might be, competed in sprints, distance and field events. Josh Stanley looked strong in the 100m, Cameron Rodriguez found out he can join a faster pace group in the 1500m, Aiden Roffey is looking forward to next weeks 800m event, while Nolan Seymour shows tremendous promise in the long jump.

Meghan Myers carried over her winning ways from last season, which saw a trip to OFSAA, by taking first place in the Senior Girls Javelin. Meghan has also taken newcomer Sherall Semeniuk under her wing. The pair seem to be great luck for each other as Sherall captured first place in the junior girls javelin. Not bad for her first competition.

Your Titans are back in Etobicoke next Friday and Saturday for the Sacred Heart Classic. Hopefully, the bus will have fewer empty seats…and someone will remember his sunscreen.

The 2016 Track season is about to begin, with the first practice scheduled for Monday March 21st.

What do you need to do to join the team?
