A strong start to the 2015 Track Season
The 2015 season began on a very positive note as a small band of Titans made the trek to Etobicoke to take part in the 42nd annual Nike Rowland Games.
Brooke Belo was the top finisher on the day, taking home second place honours in Junior girls long jump.
A slew of Titans finished in 3rd place in their respective events, including: Logan Riley in the Senior Boy’s 400m, Cameron Murphy in the Junior boys 400m, Veronica Dyment in the Junior Girl’s 1500m, Annie Vierra in the Senior Girl’s 1500m and Meghan Myers in the Junior Girl’s javelin
Heidi Tuskiewicz was 4th in the Senior girls 1500, while Ruben Rebelo landed in 4th in the Senior boys javelin.
Thomas Witkowicz represented All Saints in the prestigious 3000m invitational event, earning his invitation after his 2014 OFSSA XC Championship run in the fall. As a grade 9 student, simply earning an invite to this open aged event is quite an accomplishment. Despite racing against more senior athletes, some 3 years his senior, Thomas managed to finish in the middle of the pack. Without getting into jinx territory, I am told his time puts him in striking distance of a certain OFSAA record. Thomas’ time of 8:51.52 for the 3000m sets a new All Saints record and shatters the existing Midget Boy’s record by over a minute.
Your titans are back in action again next weekend as they travel to Etobicoke on Friday and Saturday for the Sacred Heart Invitational.
